Top Engineering

Cryogenics in physics, technology and medicine  by Prof. Maciej Chorowski, 16 January 2014

Top Engineering - a series of meetings,  held  in cooperation with the National Centre for Research and Development, in which specialists working for different technological enterprises will take part. As part of this project the Center is planning to organise lectures by representatives of renowned technological institutions and companies and to present exhibitions covering scientific achievements in given technological fields. Meetings within the Top Engineering series will be addressed to the WUT academic community.

Professor Maciej Chorowski – specialist in in the area of cryogenic engineering. Graduated from Wroclaw University of Technology; Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering (2005-2012) at WRUT; employed at European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN in Geneva ( 1996-1998) where he was responsible for the risk analysis of the Large Hadron Collider accelerator and for ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). He initiated the contribution of Polish industry – i.e. the supply of cryogenic devices and system for XFEL and FAIR accelerators. He was elected the President of Wroclaw Technology Park SA (2002-2012). Presently, Professor Chorowski is a member of CERN Finance Committee - he is responsible for organising Polish industrial partnership with CERN; Vice-president of  the International Cryogenic Engineering Committee; Vice-president of the Commission of International Institute of Refrigeration; a member of the Executive Committee of Fusion for Energy organisation.

Professor Maciej Chorowski is the author or co-author of 150 papers on cryogenics, energetics as well as on the cooperation between big research laboratories and business partners.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, 16 January 2014, at 4:15, lecture hall no. 134 (WUT Main Building).
