Pythagorean Disputations VI, 10.03.2020

The Center for Advanced Studies of the Warsaw University of Technology invites you to the 6th edition of the Pythagorean Disputations organized in cooperation with the International Center for Formal Ontology WUT (WAiNS PW) "Using Conceptual Spaces To Model The Structure Of Empirical Theories", whose special guest will be Professor Peter Gärdenfors (Lund University, Sweden). The meeting will be hosted by Dr. Hajo Greif (International Center for Formal Ontology, Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences, WUT).

Björn Peter Gärdenfors (born September 21, 1949) is a professor of cognitive science at Lund University, one of the most outstanding and recognized contemporary philosophers. From 2011 to 2017 he was a member of the Nobel Committee in the field of economic sciences. He is a member of Academia Europaea. His research covers several areas: revision of beliefs, decision theory, philosophy of science, concept creation, conceptual spaces, cognitive semantics and evolution of cognition and language. More important publications: "The Geometry of Meaning: Semantics Based on Conceptual Spaces" (Cambridge, Mass. 2014), "Conceptual Spaces: The Geometry of Thought" (Cambridge, Mass. 2000), How Homo Became Sapiens (Oxford - New York 2003).

The meeting will take place on March 10, 2020 (Tuesday) at 4.30 p.m. in room 206 of the WUT Main Building at Pl. Politechniki 1, Warsaw.
