Top Engineering

Marek Darecki, President of the Board of WSK “PZL-RzeszĂłw”; Chairman of Pratt Whitney Poland; Chairman of the Aviation Valley Association will deliver a lecture entitled Geared Turbofan Engine – Revolution in Aircraft Propulsion Systems, 29 May 2014.

Top Engineering - a series of meetings,  held  in cooperation with the National Centre for Research and Development, in which specialists working for different technological enterprises will take part. As part of this project the Center is planning to organise lectures by representatives of renowned technological institutions and companies and to present exhibitions covering scientific achievements in given technological fields. Meetings within the Top Engineering series will be addressed to the WUT academic community.

Marek Darecki - President of the Board, CEO of WSK “PZL-RzeszĂłw”; Chairman of Pratt Whitney Poland; Chairman of the Aviation Valley Association. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics (Aero Engines), Rzeszow University of Technology. In 1978 he joined WSK „PZL – RzeszĂłw” company where he worked for 10 years as a constructor in the Construction Office. Then he headed the Turbines Section of the Construction Office for two years just to be promoted to the head of Aero-Engines Assembly and Testing Department in 1990. Afterwards, he managed the Business Development Department where he was in charge of strategic marketing and company restructuring. In 1995–1998, he  occupied the function of Production Director of the aforementioned company. As a director of the company with 2000 employees he was held accountable for production, quality and technology. In 1998,  he left WSK and became the CEO of „Goodrich Krosno” Company, subsidiary of the American Goodrich Group, which manufactures landing gear parts. He spent the following 4 years restructuring the company, as a result of which its sales value increased 4 times. At that time „Goodrich Krosno” started manufacturing landing gears for F16 aircrafts. In 2002, he returned as the President of the Board and CEO to WSK „PZL-RzeszĂłw”, which had just become privatized. He is the President of the Association of Polish Aviation Industry and of Aviation Valley Association. He also presides Polish Technological Platforms and is a member of the Program Council of the National Centre for Research and Development.  In July 2008, he was elected the President of Pratt Whitney Poland and took over the responsibility for Pratt and Whitney’s operations in Poland. In 2008, he was awarded the Manager of the Year Prize by the Subcarpathian Economic Prize Committee.
In December 2010 he was appointed by the European Commission to the so-called High Level Group, whose mission is to come up with a development vision of the European aviation industry up to 2050.
