Colloquium Lecture WUT „Venusian Cloud Anomalies and the Search for Signs of Life in the Clouds”, 23.06.2022

The lecture entitled „Venusian Cloud Anomalies and the Search for Signs of Life in the Clouds” will be given by Janusz Pętkowski, an astrobiologist affiliated with the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The speaker is one of the leaders of the MIT-Breakthrough Venus Life Finder Mission Concept Study initiative. He is interested in biosignature gases, theoretical biochemistry and research leading to finding life beyond Earth. He received his PhD in biophysics from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He received his master's and bachelor's degrees in biotechnology and molecular biology from the Faculty of Biology at University of Warsaw. He is one of the founding members of the Polish Astrobiological Society.

Venus' clouds are full of mysteries. Dozens of observations and data collected over the past half-century suggest that something quite unexplained is going on in the clouds of Venus. The lecture will present these anomalous observations and their potential interpretation, as well as the "Venus Life Finder" initiative and planned private interplanetary missions.

More information, including an abstract, is available at the link:  Konwersatorium PW

The seminar will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 4:15 pm in room 134 of the PW Main Building.
