Professor Krzysztof Maurin - a man with unchained mind and spirit

On 15 December 2014, the Center for Advanced Studies held a ceremony of awarding Professor Krzysztof Maurin the title of the Master of the Center for Advanced Studies.

Apart from the title itself, the laureate was given a statuette of regular dodecahedron representing Plato's Universe.The event gathered many eminent guests – representatives of the academic society who wanted to witness the ceremony and for whom Professor Maurin gave a lecture titled Reflections on Mathematics and Philosophy.

The Center’s distinction, with the motto Laus tibi, non tuleris qui vincula mente animoque (Praised be the one who has not imprisoned the power of mind and spirit) is awarded by the CAS Advisory Council for a laureate’s special contribution to academic society, for being successful in expanding research areas as well as for crossing the boundaries of cognition.
