The Mathematics Symposium, Chęciny, 2-5.03.2023

The Mathematics Symposium was held at the European Center for Geological Education of University of Warsaw at Korzecko, Chęciny on  March 2-5, 2023.

The event, co-organized by a team from the Center for Advanced Studies WUT together with the Center for Systemic Risk Analysis of the University of Warsaw (Bartosz Nowacki) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science at the Warsaw University of Technology (Dr. Michal Zwierzynski and Marcin Zubilewicz, M.Sc.), was conducted by an academic team: prof. Wojciech Domitrz - Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science WUT, Prof. Stanisław Janeczko - Director of CAS; Prof. Zbigniew Lonc (MiNI WUT); Dr. Grzegorz Łach ( Centre for Systemic Risk Analysis UW); Prof. Barbara Roszkowska-Lech (MiNI WUT); Dr. Sebastian Szymanski (CBRS UW); Prof. Anna Zamojska-Dzienio (MiNI WUT). The Symposium was attended by students - members of scientific circles and doctoral students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science WUT, as well as representatives of the Center for Systemic Risk Analysis of the University of Warsaw.

The symposium program included 17 lectures from various mathematical specialties, enriched with talks from the humanities - philosophy, archaeology and art history. The winners of the poll for the most interesting lecture were: Prof. Barbara Roszkowska-Lech (MiNI WUT with her lecture "A loner on an infinite board"; Prof. Agnieszka Jastrzebska (MiNI WUT) - "Computer vision in practice - selected approaches and problems"; prof. Zbigniew Lonc (MiNI WUT - "Visual cryptography"; Olga Broniewska-Halder, M.Sc. (Faculty of Architecture WUT) - "Geometric compositions of symbolic content in late medieval art"; Hubert Grochowski, M.Sc. (MiNI WUT) - "Triangles, squares and packing coloring".
